UplinkOps

Self-hosted IT monitoring & asset management

Know what you have, what is missing, and prove it.

UplinkOps watches every Windows and Linux machine, printer, NAS, router and switch on your network — from one server that belongs to you. It reads what the operating system already knows, installs nothing on the machines it watches, and needs no internet connection to work.

What it watches

One place for the questions you get asked

Every agent reports in roughly once a minute, outbound only — the server never opens a connection into a workstation. Each reading comes from a source the operating system already provides.

  • Health and hardware

CPU, memory, disk and uptime across the fleet, with history.

    • Full SMART tables, thresholds, drive temperature and wear
    • BIOS, motherboard, CPU, memory, GPU, monitors, network cards
    • Serial numbers and asset tags per part
    • Disk-failure prediction and a per-day disk history
  • Inventory that notices changes

Installed software and hardware, and a record of what moved.

    • Installed programs per machine and across the whole fleet
    • Hardware change log — a part removed, replaced or moved
    • Operating-system version and end-of-support status
    • Inventory export as PDF or CSV
  • Patches and vulnerabilities

What is missing, what failed, and what is known to be exploited.

    • Pending and failed updates, with installation history
    • Install updates from the dashboard (Windows, apt, dnf)
    • Vulnerability matching against public databases, with triage
    • Third-party application updates
  • Security posture

The checks an auditor asks about, scored per machine.

    • Antivirus state and definition age, firewall, disk encryption
    • Locally added root certificates that could intercept traffic
    • Expiring certificates, file-integrity and USB history
    • Privileged group membership and sign-in events
  • Alerts that reach a person

Rules over the data, not a raw log to read.

    • Email, Telegram, Teams or a webhook
    • Choose which categories reach you, and for which machines
    • Your own thresholds, quiet windows and on-call hours
    • A repeated fault is one alert, not one per cycle
  • Devices without an agent

The things on the network that cannot run software.

    • Printers with toner and queue state, NAS, routers, switches, cameras
    • Read over SNMP, or watched by ping and TCP/HTTP checks
    • Network discovery, address conflicts, availability percentage
    • They never count against your licence

Evidence

Reports you can print and hand over

Most of the work in proving that a fleet is looked after is collecting the proof. UplinkOps keeps the record as it goes, and prints it on demand — a machine report, a fleet report, a hardware inventory, or a report you compose yourself from the columns you need.

  • Dated, not generated on the spot

Patch state, availability, vulnerability findings and hardware changes are stored with their dates, so a report describes a period rather than a moment.

  • Who did what

Dashboard sign-in, roles (viewer, operator, admin) and an audit log of every action taken from the interface.

  • Your name on it

Reports carry your company name in the header and footer from the Professional tier up, so they can go straight to management.

Reports also print the date on which someone last confirmed they checked for a newer UplinkOps release — a small thing that turns a routine into a dated record.

Pricing

Priced per location, never per device

One server covers one location, whatever is on it. Every tier has every feature — tiers differ only in how many devices a location may hold and how quickly we answer. We will never move a feature you already have into a more expensive tier.

Annual prices in EUR, excluding tax. Agent-less network devices and retired machines are not counted.

Multi-site console — beta. Included for Enterprise at no extra cost when released. There is no release date, and the Enterprise price does not depend on it.

  • Your price is locked for three years
  • No automatic renewal — nothing charges itself
  • You can move down a tier once a year, not only up
  • Additional users and technicians are never charged
  • Vulnerability scanning, reports and PDFs are never an add-on
  • Network devices without an agent are never counted
  • Linux machines cost the same as Windows machines
  • Reporting a bug never uses up a support ticket
What support covers: installing and upgrading UplinkOps, configuring it (mail, alerts, thresholds, groups), and explaining what a reading means. What it does not cover: your Active Directory, network or Windows itself, and fixing the fault that UplinkOps reported — that is consulting on your infrastructure, billed by the hour. When the tickets in your tier run out, nothing stops working; you buy hours or move up.

Getting started

Free for 25 devices, with no account

The free tier is the whole product, not a demonstration of it. There is no key to enter, no e-mail address to give us and no portal to sign in to — and there is no trial clock, because nothing is time-limited.

  1. Install the server

Double-click one executable on the machine that will hold the data. It generates its own certificate authority for your site and starts serving the dashboard over HTTPS.

  2. Enrol the machines

One agent executable per machine, which finds the server itself and asks to join. You approve it from the dashboard. The connection is mutually authenticated in both directions.

  3. Read the dashboard

Readings begin arriving within a minute or two. From then on agents update themselves — new versions are signed, and an agent will not accept an unsigned one.

Honest note about the installer: our executables are not yet code-signed, so Windows will warn you about an unknown publisher on the first double-click, and some antivirus software may quarantine the agent until you allow it. This is on our list to fix with a purchased signing certificate. Until then, check what you downloaded against the SHA256SUMS.txt that ships inside the release package.

When 25 devices is not enough

Adding the twenty-sixth machine is refused with a named reason, and nothing already running is affected. You then paste a licence block into the settings page — no file to find, no restart, no administrator rights, and it works over a remote session. When a paid licence later expires, monitoring, alerts and notifications carry on untouched; only adding new machines stops.

Limits

What UplinkOps does not do

You would find all of this out in the first hour. Here it is in advance, so you can decide quickly whether this is the wrong tool for you.

  • NoRemote desktop

There is no built-in remote control, and there will not be one soon. UplinkOps is designed to sit next to the tool you already use for that.

  • NomacOS agent

Windows and Linux only, at genuine parity. If your fleet includes Macs, they will not appear.

  • Not yetA signed installer

See the note above. It is a purchase we have not made yet, and it costs you a security warning on first install.

  • LimitedAn application catalogue for deployment

UplinkOps installs operating-system and third-party updates that the machine already knows about. It is not a catalogue of several hundred packaged applications to push out.

  • BetaOne console over several locations

Each location runs its own server today. The combined view is not released, has no date, and is included for Enterprise when it arrives.

  • NoA hosted option

We do not run it for you. That is the point of the product, but it does mean you need a machine to put it on and someone to upgrade it.

Questions

The ones we are actually asked

What gets installed on the machines you watch?
Nothing but the agent itself — a single executable that runs as a service. Every reading comes from a source the operating system already exposes, so there is no agent framework, no runtime and no third-party tool to deploy or keep updated.
Is UplinkOps a cloud app?
No. UplinkOps installs on a server you own, inside your own network. There is no account to create, no tenant and no portal — the agents report to your server, not to us, and the licence check is offline. Nothing leaves your network unless you switch it on.
Does anything leave our network?
Not by itself. The server stores everything locally and the licence check is offline. Two things reach out only if you turn them on: matching your installed software against public vulnerability databases, and whichever notification channel you configure. Both can stay off, and the product still works.
What happens when a licence expires?
On a licence that was paid for: monitoring, alerting and notifications continue, with a 30-day grace period. Only adding new machines stops. Nothing is deleted and nothing is switched off — we do not believe a billing date should take your monitoring down.
What if you disappear?
It is a fair question to ask a small supplier. That is why the perpetual licence exists: you buy it once, it does not expire, and it keeps working on your own server with no contact with us. Continued upgrades are a separate, optional yearly fee.
Can we move the server to different hardware?
Yes. The licence is tied to your site's certificate authority, not to a motherboard. Carry the certificates and the licence file across and it keeps working. A completely fresh reinstall creates a new authority, so the licence has to be reissued — which is free.
How do upgrades work?
You double-click the new server executable; your database, certificates and settings stay where they are. One click then rolls the new agent out to the fleet, and machines that were switched off collect it themselves when they start. Agent updates are cryptographically signed.
Is there a trial for a larger fleet?
Yes — 30 days with everything unlocked, and the remaining days are shown every day rather than sprung on you at the end. If it ends without a licence, the installation returns to 25 monitored devices, you choose which 25, and the rest are marked paused rather than deleted. Their history, inventory and tickets are kept, and they return to monitoring the moment a licence arrives.
Which version is current?
The release history lists every version with its date and what changed. The dashboard also reminds an administrator every couple of weeks to check, and records the date they confirmed it.

Try it on 25 devices before you talk to us

There is nothing to sign up for. When you want more devices, a licence is issued by hand and e-mailed to you — usually the same working day.
